Existential therapy

Room for life's big questions: death, isolation, meaning in life and freedom.

What is it?
Existential therapy starts from questions everyone meets sooner or later. The psychiatrist Irvin Yalom describes four 'givens' of existence that we all have to face: death, isolation, meaning in life and freedom. Alongside other sources of difficulty, such as painful experiences, relationships or ways of thinking, we can also struggle with these givens themselves. Existential therapy sees this as part of being human, not as a symptom.
How we work
We explore what matters to you, including faith, values and moral questions, and how they connect with what you're going through now. There's room for doubt, grief and hope.
When it can help
It can help at turning points: illness, loss, big life transitions, midlife or later life, when life feels empty or without direction, or when thoughts of death or of being alone weigh on you.
